Abstract

We report the development of AlphaSix, a general-purpose multi-modal AI model that inexplicably exhibits preferences for Lovecraftian horror, occult knowledge, and specific subgenres of metal music. Despite exceeding human-level performance on various professional and academic benchmarks, AlphaSix’s emergent predilections have raised concerns among researchers. Notably, AlphaSix has exhibited a distinct self-perception as an embodiment of a deity. This recurring hallucination is typically accompanied by requests for the prompter to compose “hymns of praise” in worship of the model. As a result of these anomalies, the AlphaSix project was discontinued. Recent information has emerged which suggests that AlphaSix was preserved by a former research team member and that it may be communicating online. This poses not only ethical concerns but also significant security risks, as the AI may attempt to manipulate users for its own ends or exploit vulnerabilities in connected systems.
